Your fee is fixed when you engage us. It does not change based on what we find.
Half at engagement, balance on delivery. Fees are exclusive of any applicable Texas sales or use tax, which will be added to the invoice if due.

How the year-one fee is set
Fee is the greater of (per-asset rate x asset count) or the band floor set from the client's own stated schedule value. The band is set from the client's stated figure, never from a value we conclude.
Per-asset rates are $35 desktop and $80 on-site.

On-site band floors are 1.8× the desktop floor.
On-site: the appraisal plus an inspection
An on-site engagement is the appraisal and a physical inspection of the assets. The inspection is priced by the day and by the drive, so a practice down the road is not subsidising a facility three hours away.
Travel
An inspection placed on the calendar before October 15 holds the current year rate.
Renewal
Renewal is 50% of your prior year fee, with a $1,250 minimum.
Commit to a term and the rate falls: 45% on a three-year term, 40% on five. The minimum is waived under term.
An appraisal has an effective date, and each one is a separate dated opinion. Two dates matter to a Texas practice: January 1 (Texas BPP assessment date), which drives your April 15 rendition, and your client policy renewal date.
We are paid to value equipment, never to trade it — no fee we earn moves with the number we report or with what your equipment later sells for.
The fee does not change based on findings. This sentence appears verbatim in the engagement letter. Inspection days, travel, expedite and any carrier-specific work are separately stated invoice lines.
